Senator Lito Lapid said that telcos should compensate customers who experienced internet connection problems refund.
Senate Bill 2092 or the proposed Refund for Internet and Telecommunications Service Outages and Disruptions Act requires telco companies and internet providers like PLDT, Globe, and Converge, to provide refund credit to customers by pro-rating monthly bills to reflect the aggregate period when their internet services failed.
The bill sets a threshold of a collective 24 hours or more within a month for service disruptions.
“The ISPs and public telecommunications entities concerned shall not require the customer to take any action in order to receive a refund credit or bill adjustment,” the measure read.
"Prepaid internet subscribers should also be entitled to refunds if they suffer from service distruption" Lapid added.
