Sotto sa mga kritiko ng anti-terror bill: Mga terorista lang at supporters nila ang dapat matakot na maipasa ito

Sinisiguro ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III na hindi magagamit sa maling paraan ang anti-terror bill kapag naisabatas na ito.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ni Sotto na dapat mag research muna ang mga kritiko ng anti-terror bill. Dagdag pa ng senador, tanging mga terorista at mga sumusuporta sa mga ito ang takot sa nasabing bill.

“I suggest they read the bill first before reacting. Terrorists or their supporters are the only ones who will be afraid of the bill,” sabi ni Sotto.

“It’s as good as passed. It will just need my signature if it comes back to us after ratification then I will transmit to the President,” sabi ni Sotto sa isang text message.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo Lacson said that there’s enough safeguards in the law so no one could misuse it once it passed as a law.

Samantala, sinabi ni Senador Panfilo Lacson, author at sponsor ng panukala, na kinonsidera na nila ang naturang mga concern habang binubuo ito.

“The concerns being raised by the progressive and leftist groups as well as human rights advocates have been adequately addressed during the Committee on National Defense and Security public hearings, as well as the debates and interpellations in plenary,” sabi ni Lacson.

“Enough safeguards are in place. The critics – some of whom had been extended the opportunity to help craft the bill – should read first the bill itself to see for themselves what I am saying,” dagdag nito.

Ayon pa kay Lacson, ang kasalukuyang anti-terrorism law ng ating bansa ay isa sa pinakamahina sa buong mundo.

Para naman kay Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, ang dapat raw pagtuunan ng pansin ng gobyerno ay ang Covid-19 pandemic at hindi ang anti-terror bill.

“Pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga walang masakyang public transport ngayong GCQ, ang mass testing at contact tracing, at pagbangon ulit ng ating kabuhayan,” sabi ni Pangilinan.

“Whole of government di ba? Heal as one di ba? Gamot ba ang panukalang batas sa COVID-19 o gagamiting panakip-butas sa mga kapalpakan?” dagdag nito.
