A 21-month-old girl from Germany tragically died after falling from her father's arms while going down a water slide at a water park in Lopar, Croatia.

The accident happened on July 22, when the child reportedly slipped and fell from nearly four meters (around 13 feet) onto a concrete surface. According to reports from The New York Post, The Independent, and local media, the father was seen in distress, holding the unresponsive child and crying, "Don’t ask me anything, my daughter is dying!"
One witness shared that they initially thought the child had drowned, saying, "The waiter had just brought me coffee. When we heard crying and shouting, we thought the child had drowned.”
A nearby doctor quickly responded and attempted to resuscitate the toddler with CPR. The girl was then airlifted to a hospital, where doctors discovered she had sustained severe brain injuries and internal trauma. She died the following morning.
Lopar Mayor Zdenko Jakuc expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying, “It is an understatement to say that we are all extremely shaken. When the helicopter landed, everything stopped. We all looked at the sky and hoped for the best.”
A spokesperson for the Lopar tourist board added that the park has operated for many years without any similar incident, calling Lopar “a place that is perceived as safe, peaceful, and ideal for families with small children.”
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and whether safety protocols were properly followed. It is still unclear if the water slide was appropriate for such a young child.
